The Pennsylvania Adoption Exchange (PAE) was established
in 1979 by the Department of Public Welfare to help
County Children and Youth agencies find adoptive families
for Pennsylvania’s waiting children. PAE is
a major component of the Statewide Adoption and Permanency
Network (SWAN) as it serves the counties, SWAN affiliate
agencies, the general public and interfaces with other
state and national adoption exchanges. PAE is not
an adoption agency, but serves to connect families
who want to adopt with children waiting for a permanent
home. Final decisions about adoption are the sole
responsibility of the agency with custody of the child.

| CASA
of Westmoreland, Inc. trains volunteer citizens who are appointed by a
judge to represent the best interests of a child in court.
Children helped by CASA volunteers include those who have been
victims of abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers advocate for the
child and help explain to them the court proceedings and the roles of
the many professionals involved in the case. They interact in
such a way as to give an informed opinion to the judge as to what
actions will promote the overall welfare of the child. http://www.co.westmoreland.pa.us/casa/site/default.asp |
